There are countless inspiring, hard working and effective Non-Profit organizations advocating for the basic human rights of people all around the world. Since I can’t highlight ALL of them (although I’ll probably highlight many of them through my posts), I wanted to share several of them with you.

Theses are organizations I deeply respect, and they are where I find much of my information and many of my resources. I highly encourage you to check them out, read through their website and do the best you can to stay current on the events and issues in our world. Enjoy.

Human Rights Watch is one of the best know and well-respected organizations in advocacy,          human rights and social justice. Their research is impeccable, their work is effective and their  information and website is always up to date. They cover nearly every human rights issue  occurring around the globe. I highly recommend taking a look at their website or signing up for  their monthly updates.

AI-Logo-Squareweb Amnesty International is another of the most respected human rights organizations in the world.  They work in many different countries on many different issues and do their job extremely well.  Amnesty is very good about involving their supporters and coming up with ways that you and I  can practically help, such as signing petitions and contacting your government representatives.  They also offer human rights e-mail alerts to keep you updated on urgent events as they happen.

unicef-logoweb UNICEF specifically works on protecting and advocating for children around the world. They do  everything from advocating for policy changes and creating sustainable development projects, to  increasing child life expectancy and protecting them from malnutrition and AIDS/HIV. Their  work is awesome and they’re website is a great place to learn about issues that are easier to teach  your children about- like the fact that many children don’t get to go to school and don’t have new  shoes and things like that.

polarisprojectwebPolaris Project is one of the largest anti-trafficking organizations in the United States with offices around the country and around the world. Polaris Project’s comprehensive approach includes  conducting direct outreach and victim identification, providing social services and transitional housing to victims, serving as the central national hotline on human trafficking, advocating for stronger state and Federal anti-trafficking legislation, and engaging community members in local and national grassroots efforts.

It provides financial and technical assistance to innovative programmes and strategies that foster women’s empowerment. UNIFEM works on the premise that it is the fundamental right of every woman to live a life free from discrimination and violence, and that gender equality is essential to achieving development and to building just societies
